OK GO - Kings Of The One Take Video

Last week I posted about an awesome one take music video for Diane Birch's 'Valentino'.....

Now, I'm sure you've all heard of OK GO. They're the kings of the one take video.... They were big before, but they skyrocketed to fame after they filmed their one take music video for 'A Million Ways' in their backyard.... Apparently, that video can't be embedded, but you can see it here.....

After the wild success of the 'A Million Ways' video, OK GO released their second one take video for 'Here It Goes Again'.... You know the video, four guys with four treadmills in a basement.... Seamlessly hopping from treadmill to treadmill....

For OK GO's newest one take experiment, the band created two one take videos for the new single 'This Too Shall Pass'....

The first video features the band member marching around in a wooded area, while a marching band in camouflage pop out of nowhere with their instruments to accompany the band.... The marching band video can't be embedded either, but you can see it here....

In their second video for 'This Too Shall Pass', and possibly their most impressive video, OK GO created a Rube Goldberg Machine that works continuously for around four minutes!

Their latest stunt wasn't a one take music video, but definitely worth checking out.... At the Maker's Fair in New York City, OK GO played a set while underwater.... Well, the band members had buckets of water on their heads and the lead singer was completely submerged in a water suit / goldfish aquarium....

Side note: You can skip the first 11 minutes of this video.... The first 11 minutes is all about the guys getting into their water outfits, the play their first song (I Want You So Bad I Can't Breathe) at around the 11 minute mark, and their second song (This Too Shall Pass) at around the 17:15 mark of the video....

Lately it seems that the music video is a lost art.... The amazingly talented Diane Birch has created an amazing music video for her new song 'Valentino'!

The video was shot in one take, and as you can see by the director's board, it took at least 57 takes to get the video right....

Steve Is Back!

I'm a father of two, and Blue's Clues has played an integral part of my son's life.... I remember hearing the stories about the angry mothers and children who were upset by the departure of Steve Burns, and the installment of his replacement Donovan Patton (who played Steve's brother Joe)....

Well, Steve is back! We were watching Nick Jr. and the customary music video was playing between episodes, and Colleen screams out 'It's Steve! Steve from Blue's Clues!'. Sure enough, it was a bald Steve Burns with Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips performing the song "I Hog The Ground (The Groundhog Song)".

I was going to add some clever comment in the blog this morning... Something like 'You should be able to identify this easily, however, I'd identify it using a paperclip, a wad of chewing gum, and spectacles from the 1940's'.

I'm sure you are all very sad that you missed out on this humor, however, as I'm writing this, I'm still giggling to myself. 'Spectacles.... That's an old-timey word for glasses.... Giggle Giggle'.

All right, so by now, I'm assuming that you all knew that the theme was from the television show "MacGyver".

Did you know that MacGyver's first name was Angus? Richard Dean Anderson is awesome...

Can You Guess This TV Theme? #8 - Answer

I just finished watching the entire series of "My So Called Life" on DVD.

Screw "My So Called Life"! How dare this show take my gentle soul and crush it into a million pieces. I am not happy! Are Angela Chase (played by Claire Danes) and Brian Krakow going to get together? Is she going to stay with Jordan Catalano (played by Jared Leto)? What's going to happen with the gay friend? Or the druggie friend? Or the goodie two-shoes friend? Will there be harmony ever again? It just ended with a season 1 cliffhanger! There are so many doors left open!!!!!!! I need to know what happens!!!!!!! Please god!!!!!!! I need to know what happens!!!!!!!

I've looked everywhere! Not one person gives any kind of closure as to what could have happened after the first season. And when I say I looked everywhere, I mean I looked at the first two sites that came up when I googled "My So Called Life Season 2".

By the way, Colleen, you're right. Jordan Catalano is dreamy!!!!

I remember waking up early every morning during summer vacation one year, just so I could watch "Mama's Family" in syndication.

Vicki Lawrence played Thelma "Mama" Harper, cranky queen of the family providing shelter and knocking sense into her dimwitted family. Her son Vinton and his wife Naomi, her nephew Buddy and her nosy neighbor Iola made up her gang of dolts.

I was watching clips of "Mama's Family" on the computer today.... Yeah.... I don't find the show quite as funny as I did 20 years ago....

Jerry, you're too good.... You are correct, today's theme was the song "C'mon C'mon" by the Von Bondies, and it's the theme for the television show "Rescue Me".

Do any of you watch this show? It is fantastic! I just finished watching the fourth season....

The character development is amazing. After watching the first three episodes, you'll feel like you've known the characters your entire life, and you'll have to know what happens next. The show is emotional and passionate. It's just a fascinating hour of television.

Denis Leary plays an ill-tempered, self destructive, hypocritical, manipulative, relapsed alcoholic fireman who has to deal with his crazy family, crazy job, crazy coworkers and a crazy post 9/11 world. He plays the role sooooo well.

My grandfather was a New York fireman, and it's like I can see him in the characters.

Well, someone took the music videos for the Tears For Fears' song 'Head Over Heels' and a ha's song 'Take On Me' and made the lyrics match the actions in the videos.
