Tondominium

Tondominium (Tondo Condominium) is a type of vertical box houses that can be found in the slums of Happy Land, Tondo, Manila. The houses are made of a variety of materials that include flattened tin cans, cardboard, plywood, trapal, styrofoam, and other materials that had been salvaged from the nearby dump site. This type of housing settlement is not unique to Tondo, however, as I have seen this also in other depressed areas of Manila. Some even reach as high as six stories even without a solid foundation.

These dangerous type of homes are often preferred by poor people rather than living in the streets and sidewalks. Yet there is always the danger of these houses collapsing like a house of cards in case of typhoon or earthquakes. If nature fails to destroy them, the Manila government acts on its behalf by threatening to demolish them--in the excuse that they are an eye-sore to foreign tourists.

A Baby Vendor

I was about to buy a few pieces of candy in this sidewalk candy/cigarette store in downtown Manila, but I couldn't find the vendor. Instead, I found this little adorable baby minding the store while his mother was away to use the public lavatory. A man nearby told me to drop coins in the vending case and get my money's worth of candies. I did it but I had to take this photograph first of the cute baby. But the little vendor suddenly closed his eyes and slept. Maybe he became tired of minding the store every now and then.

European rules preventing trainee doctors from working more than 48 hours a week have come into force. Reference-BBC News. Lets hope our Indian laws also make a note of it soon, i have known residents working for 36hours straight at times here!

Giant hiatal hernia-CT

Hiatal hernias may be categorized as paraesophageal or sliding. Paraesophageal hiatal hernias are rare hernias involving migration of the gastric fundus into the thorax while the gastroesophageal junction remains below the diaphragm. Sliding hiatal hernias, by far more common, involve migration of both the gastroesophageal junction and the stomach into the thorax; they place patients at risk for reflux.

CBS News reported today that a wild 17-foot long Burmese Python was captured in Okeechobee County. The snake wieghed in at 207 pounds and was 26 inches in diameter.... WILD GIANT MAN EATING SNAKES!!!! No thank you....
