The procession of the Senyor Nazareno lasted for more than fourteen hours, as it slowly moved its way around the heart of Manila downtown from dawn until evening. The devotees' ultimate goal is to touch the holy image with their towels or shirts, as the Senyor Nazareno was believed to be miraculous, able to heal the most incurable diseases, and grant the faithfuls with their most fervent wishes. Many devotees desired to climb the carrosa of the Senyor, not minding even if in the process, they put their own lives and limbs at risk. Indeed, it was an almost impossible task, as there are the other thousands who have the same line of thinking. But then I was enthralled that I have not witnessed any form of selfishness in this most chaotic procession. The devotees helped one another climb the carossa, giving way to those who most need the Nazareno's miraculous powers.
