Can You Guess This TV Theme? #49 - Answer

Congratulations to Patrick Tillett from 'Patrick Tillett - Extremely Overdue' for correctly guessing that this week's TV theme is from 'Felicity'! I don't mean to offend you in any way Pat, but when you posted the answer, I had to do a double take when I saw your name.... 'Pat Tillett watched Felicity? I did not see that coming....' I think you may have been the only Vietnam Veteran to have watched 'Felicity'.... By the way people.... If you haven't check out Pat's blog, do it.... It's amazing! His amazing stories about the life he's lived, the amazing Vietnam posts, and the amazing photography are.... well, amazing. The man knows how to tell a story.... Ok, now, onto this week's theme....

'Felicity' was a powerhouse from the get-go.... Created by two of the brightest minds in Hollywood, J.J. Abram`s and Matt Reeves, and produced by two of the biggest names in Hollywood, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, 'Felicity' ran for only four seasons, following Felicity throughout her college years....

Keri Russell plays Felicity Porter, a young high school graduate who decides to go against her parents' dreams of a fully paid Stanford Pre-Med education to follow a boy, Ben Covington (Scott Speedman), to the University of New York.

Felicity gets to New York and learns about herself, and develops relationships and friendships throughout her four years in college. Struggling in a love triangle with Ben and Noel (Scott Foley, originally playing Felicity's Resident Advisor).... Creating friendships with friends Julie and Elena (played by Amy Jo Johnson and Tangi Miller).... P.S. For those of you who recognize the name Amy Jo Johnson, but just can't remember who she is, she's the original Pink Power Ranger!

During the series, you're introduced to Sean Blumberg (played by Greg Grunberg, who on a side note is a childhood friend of the great J.J. Abrams, and has been cast in many of Abrams' projects.... He was in Alias, Mission Impossible III, and he was the pilot who crashed the plane into the island on 'LOST'! All three are Abrams' works....), Ben's original roommate and the guy who comes up with all sorts of crazy new ideas (e.g. The Before and After Restaurant - Where they only serve appetizers and desserts)....

I could go on, but there were so many characters, and each character plays such a pivotal role in the show.... I've already put most of you to sleep.... I'm not even going to talk about Donald Faison and Jennifer Garner being on the show.... Or even Tyra Banks' short run on the show....

Anyway.... On to what everybody knows about the show.... The controversy about what killed the ratings. The Haircut vs. The Network's Decision To Move The Show To A New Night.... The producers had the idea to snip Keri's lovely locks, to symbolize a fresh new start after a breakup with Ben.... After the 'haircut heard around the world', and the time change, the ratings decreased significantly and never fully recovered.

I'm going to need somebody smarter than myself to explain the ending of LOST.... I enjoyed the entire episode.... I enjoyed the ending.... Were they in purgatory? Was the island purgatory? Were the side flashes purgatory?

Can You Guess This TV Theme? #46 - Answer

Congratulations to Lisa Marie from 'The Domestication Of A Party Girl' for correctly guessing that this week's TV theme is from 'Party Of Five'.

Neve Campbell, Scott Wolf, Lacey Chabert, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jeremy London, Matthew Fox.... 'Party Of Five' could be the most beautiful show ever!

After losing both of their parents in a car crash with a drunk driver, the Salinger children are left to figure out life on their own.... One of my most favorite shows! I'm going to be spending a lot of time watching 'Party Of Five' DVD's this weekend....

There's a tie in though.... There's always a tie-in.... The 2 1/2 hour series finale of LOST is on ABC this Sunday! I can only imagine that it will be the best episode of television of all time! Matthew Fox will be Dr. Jack Shephard for the last time.... It's the end of an era....

I remember sitting in my living room, watching an episode of the first season of LOST with my wife, my sister-in-law and her ex-boyfriend.... This was before we got our DVR.... What I didn't know is that minutes before the show started, my wife had found out that she was pregnant with our first child.... Not wanting to ruin the episode of LOST, my wife waited until the episode ended to tell me that we were 'with child'.... I wonder if she's going to have any big news for me tonight?

Buried Alive

Do you ever watch LOST? Did you see the episode where two island dwellers are paralyzed after being bit by a rare spider, and when found by the other island dwellers, they're thought to be dead, only to regain consciousness after being buried alive?

How about Heroes? Did you see the episode where the character who can never die (unless shot in the brain), gets buried alive and is sentenced to his shallow grave for all of eternity.... Those two scenes have scarred me for life.... I think it's part claustrophobia, part slowly conceding to death, part knowing your loudest screams are going unheard and unanswered by people only six feet above you. Come to think of it, being trapped in a small space where nobody can get to me might be my greatest fear....

Well, he won't be buried, but starting today, journalist Tim Shaw is being locked in a metal box in an undisclosed location for 30 days and 30 nights. Mr. Shaw won't even know where he's located.... All he knows is that he'll be somewhere in the United Kingdom and it's somewhere he has been before. The box is only 3 feet high, 4.5 feet wide and 8 feet long, and will contain only himself and mattress.

Only once a day will he have any contact with the outside world, when a silent source will bring him a delivery of food and water through a tiny hatch in the box. The entire 30 days and 30 nights will be filmed and broadcast online with a short delay (to remove anything offensive that might be said), and the lights will be on in the box from 12:00 p.m. GMT to 12:00 a.m. GMT (That's 4:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. PST and 7:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m. EST). However, the microphones will be running 24 hours a day.


Throughout Tim Shaw's stay inside the isolation box, viewers will be given an opportunity to guess his whereabouts.... If someone can correctly guess where he is, the lights on the door of the box turn green and Mr. Shaw is released. Oh, and the person who guessed the location of the box correctly will receive approximately $47,000 (30,000 pounds).... By the way, if nobody figures out where he is..... He'll complete the entire 30 days and 30 nights in the box.... There are three types of clues that will be given to help find Mr. Shaw:

1. A cryptic object, with relevance to the location of the box, will be delivered to Mr. Shaw daily.
2. Mr. Shaw will be able to talk about his life and the places he's been while inside the box. Since the place he's hidden is somewhere he's been, he might reveal it while talking to the camera.
3. Mr. Shaw may mention the names of people of interest while inside the box. Contact of people Mr. Shaw may mention during his time in the box may be helpful in finding his location.

This whole thing intrigues me and scares the crap out of me at the same time. Just thinking about watching this man trapped inside this super tiny space makes me cringe..... But on the other hand, I'm fascinated and I want to have the website up on my computer all day to see if he'll crack! The incentive to win $47,000 doesn't hurt either.....

Can You Guess This TV Theme? #32 - Answer

Congratulations to TS Hendrick over at The Non-Review! I though I had everybody stumped this week, but he and his brother teamed up to guess this week's TV theme....

I have to be honest.... I have never seen 'The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.' show. However, I did spend the last 5 minutes reading about the show, and I can tell you that it sounds like the worst show ever (It's a western where the cowboy's use futuristic gadgets and fight a bad guy from the future).... However, it was created by Carlton Cuse, the executive producer of a little show called 'LOST'....

Here's a summary of the plot....

'Harvard Law Graduate Brisco County, Jr. searches for the members of the infamous John Bly gang, the same men who killed his father. Along the way, he encounters mysterious golden orbs with strange abilities and colorful characters who help or hinder his mission as he hunts down the Bly gang one by one.'


Not only was the theme used for 'The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.' show, the theme is used by NBC during the Olympics as the intro music when they introduce the upcoming events! GO USA!

Are You As LOST As I Am?

Only 11 more days until the premier of the sixth season of LOST! Being that it seems like I watched the last new episode of LOST way back in the early 1990's, I was having trouble remembering a few of the details.... Until I met Mike and his extended Italian family! They have taken the time to provide a recap of the show's first five seasons in under five minutes for LandlineTV! Watch it and get caught up before the new season starts on February 2, 2010!

As a short warning, there is a commercial for Netflix at the end of the video, and I know how everybody hates commercials....
