Julie and Julia
I can hear it now.... Yeah, he's so gay.... Ha ha ha.... But I am so excited about this movie! Julia Child was a delight to watch on television.... She was personable and relatable and real....
Julia Child was Paula Deen before Paula Deen was Paula Deen! Except for the fact that she cooked French food....
So if you remember watching Julia Child on television, this trailer should get you really excited to see the film. Amy Adams is so charming, and Meryl Streep channels Julia Child! She definitely redeems herself for 'Mamma Mia' with this role.... Ok, well maybe she redeemed herself by getting nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award for her role in 'Doubt', but I didn't see it, so 'Doubt Schmout'. Do yourself a favor and watch the trailer....
By the way, Julie and Julia started as a blog, then became a book, and then became a movie.... So look for 'As Black As Obama' or 'I Think It's Interesting' on bookshelves soon! Maybe I should start writing something with a theme.... Ooooh! Maybe something about fatherhood.... Or maybe I should just keep writing and posting silly videos about crap I think is interesting....

How Can A Guy Who Looks So Creepy, Write Children's Poetry So Well?
Do you remember Shel Silverstein? Along with "Where The Wild Things Are", when I was a child, I had all of Shel Silverstein's poetry books. The guy wrote wonderful children's poetry, second only to Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss). His poems were fun, jaunty and simple, and were typically accompanied by a cute monochrome comic that add a cute and childlike touch. I know that his poetry will definitely be part of Noah's reading material.....
Did you know that Shel Silverstein passed away 10 years ago today, on May 8, 1999? Or that he was a famous songwriter and musician, and that he wrote the music and lyrics and won a Grammy in 1970 for "A Boy Named Sue " (which was performed by Johnny Cash).
His amazing bibliography contains many popular books, including "A Giraffe and a Half", "The Giving Tree", "A Light In The Attic", "Falling Up" and "Where The Sidewalk Ends".

Pregnancy
Are you pregnant? My wife and I are.... Well, she is..... But I helped....
Anyway, when we got pregnant with Noah.... Fine, when Colleen was pregnant with Noah..... I knew almost nothing about pregnancy and children.... I read through the "What To Expect When You're Expecting", but that book was technical and boring....
I also bought approximately ten 'So, You're Going To Be A New Dad" genre books.... They were horrible! The books were usually unhelpful.
For instance, some books gave two sides of the coin for every part of the pregnancy, explaining to the reader that their partner (wife, girlfriend, or random woman they knocked up) might need them to take care of preparing dinner during the first trimester, however, some women may enjoy preparing dinner during their first trimester.
Some of the books were written for father who need things to be simple for them.... 'Babies should not be dropped. You need to feed the baby. Don't squeeze the baby too tight.'
Some 'new father' books tried to scare the crap out of the readers, explaining to the reader that their partner will be a raging lunatic for the next nine months, so they better hold on!
What does that tell me? I just want a book that talks to me like I'm somewhat intelligent, makes me laugh a little, and helps me understand what is going on. What kinds of changes are happening in my wife's body? What does the baby look like now? What should I expect? What should she expect?
Well, sorry Bono, but I've finally found what I was looking for.
Susan Magee wrote this book with the help of Dr. Kara Nakisbendi. The book is a good read for both men and women, it doesn't make you feel like an idiot while you're reading it, and it will give you (the father) a reasonable insight on what is going on with your partner. And.... IT HAS WIT AND HUMOR TOSSED IN THROUGHOUT THE BOOK! It's actually funny!
The book provides a day-by-day countdown during the (give or take) 280 days of pregnancy, mingled with advice from other mothers from their experiences during pregnancy, along with medical information.
I can't recommend it more.... It's a great book and I recommend it to any new or repeat father-to-be....

I Know Where The Wild Things Are!
I'm sooooooo excited! One of my favorite books from my childhood, "Where The Wild Things Are" is going to be released as a 'live-action' movie, directed by Spike Jonze, and will arrive in theaters on October 16, 2009.
The original book, written by Maurice Sendak and winner of the Caldecott Medal in 1964, tells the story of Max, who one evening plays around his home, "making mischief" in a wolf costume (chasing the dog with a fork, and growling at his mom, etc.). As punishment, his mother sends him to bed without supper. In his room, a mysterious, wild forest grows out of his imagination, and Max journeys to the land of the Wild Things. The Wild Things are fearsome-looking monsters, but Max conquers them "by staring into their yellow eyes without blinking once," and he is made "the King of all Wild Things." However, he soon finds himself lonely and homesick, and he returns home to his bedroom, where he finds his supper waiting for him, still hot.
The first trailer has been released, and it is looks awesome! If the movie is as heartwarming, touching and emotional as the trailer, it's going to be great.
So here's two videos..... For those of you that don't know the story of "Where The Wild Things Are", the first video is an animated video of the storybook.

Spider....AAAAAHHH!
Lindsay Lohan has revealed in an interview that she wants to win an Oscar by the time she is 30. I was hoping that she would be nominated for a Best Actress Award for her role in "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen". Sadly, my prayers were not answered.
Brown widows have been found in Orange County. They're popping up all over the place. They're native to Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi. They're not as aggressive and their bite does not pack as much of a punch as their Black Widow counterparts, however, arachnid experts say that Brown Widow venom is stronger than Black Widow venom when compared drop for drop. Apparently the only ill effects are a very painful bite and a red mark at the affected area. So if you have kids or pets...keep an eye out for the new eight legged monsters.
Terrell Owens....Football superstar? Clown? Anyway.... You've all heard of him and his antics.....especially his recent alleged pill mix up reported as a suicide attempt. The first thing you need to do is listen to his rap in this youtube video.
