Jason and Maggie Seaver, played by Alan Thicke and Joanna Kerns, tried to run a tight ship as the Seaver family tried to survive everyday life on 'Growing Pains'. Their children, Mike, Carol, Ben, Crissy and Luke, played by Kirk Cameron, Tracey Gold, Jeremy Miller, Ashley Johnson and Leonardo DiCaprio, made life a handful.
Of course you all remember that Luke, a young Leonardo DiCaprio, was a homeless character who was taken in by the Seavers as a last ditch effort to save ratings....
And you all remember Mike Seaver's best friend, Richard 'Boner' Stabone....
Did you know that Kirk Cameron and Candace Cameron, Mike Seaver on Growing Pains and DJ Tanner from Full House, are a brother and sister duo who both had hit shows on around the same time, and they both made cameos in each other's respective shows? Also, both are devout born-again Christians....
Also, Chelsea Noble, and who played Kate MacDonald (Mike Seaver's love interest)(and celebrates her birthday today), and Kirk Cameron (Mike Seaver) are actually married in real life.... They've been married for 18 years now....
Tracy Gold (Carol Seaver) suffered from anorexia and did not appear in many of the final season episodes due to a hospital stay....
Jeremy Miller (Ben Seaver) was stalked by an older man who wrote letters detailing his plans to 'rape and kill' him.... The stalker revealed his home address on one of the letters and was subsequently arrested and sent to prison....
If you've never seen the three episode arc with Matthew Perry as 'Sandy', do yourself a favor and find it, because it's seriously heartbreaking....
